Design: The coin showcases a Portuguese ship and a Chinese barque. The oval-shaped design depicts the most historical relic of Macau - Ma Gao Temple - the spot where the Portuguese first landed. It is said that the name of Macau originated from 'Ma Gao'. At the top is the inscription '1999' - the year of the return of Macau to China. The reverse bears the Coat of Arms of 'Leal Senado' - a historical seal which will never appear after the return of Macau to China, ensuring its collection value. On the circumference are the face value, '100 Patacas' and the inscription of 'Macau' in Chinese and Portuguese.
