Design: The coin features Canadian artist Bonnie Ross’ depiction of HMS Shannon. Leaving the Halifax harbor during the War of 1812. The docks and buildings of early 19th-century Halifax Harbour, including Citadel Hill are depicted. It gives you a sense of the harbours appearance at that time. The coin also features a selectively gold-plated cameo of the original figurehead from the Shannon’s bow. It includes the double date "1812-2012" and "HMS Shannon" as it commemorates the War of 1812.
Packaging: The coin comes encapsulated and presented in a maroon flock-lined clamshell case. It is protected by a black sleeve and accompanied by a serialized certificate of authenticity.
