Middle East, Jalayirid Sultanate: 1356-1374 AD Silver Coin of Shaykh Uways I (We Pick One)
The Jalayirids were a Mongol dynasty which ruled over Iraq and western Persia after the breakup of the Mongol khanate of Persia in the 1330s. It lasted about fifty years, until disrupted the conquests of Tamerlane. There was a brief revival after this but the Jalayirids were finally eliminated in 1432. The time of the Jalayirids was also an important period for Persian art.
These coins offered were issued from many different mints. The various mints were never actually in control of the Jalayirids, but were in the hands of the Muzaffarids, some of whom hired Jalayirid troops to support their positions.
