In 1889, Thomas Richard Bayliss and his son Thomas Abraham Bayliss, founded The King’s Norton Metal Company. They would go on to become an important private mint.
They would make dies for other mints and strike specimen coins for examination and approval by their clients. They kept some of these specimens as exhibits in their “King’s Norton Collection.”
