Design: This dollar commemorates the 175th anniversary of the first stage coach service between Kingston and York in January 1817. Samuel Purdy was only able to maintain regular sevice during the winter months, herce the sleigh with runners. This is the first issue of a dollar coin in sterling silver the pattern dollar was struck in London by Royal Mint in 1911
