Design: A single sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaf is the focal point of this design by Canadian artist Matt Eggink. Against a laser-engraved relief pattern, the maple leaf's multiple engraved facets are individually plated with either yellow or rose gold for high contrast and visual appeal. Ten more geometric shapes—one for each Canadian maple species—form a partial frame, while a special privy mark denotes the 25th anniversary (1996-2021) of the maple's designation as the official national arboreal emblem of Canada. The selectively plated obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
